Marta Waller is co-founder of K.I.S.S. Media, a Los Angeles Digital Marketing company. An Emmy award winning broadcast journalist for nearly 25 years, Marta believes achieving success is a combination of hard work, talent, persistence, and recognizing opportunity when it knocks.
Raised in Southern California, Marta was a union Film Sound Technician for 60 Minutes, CBS News, KCBS NBC News, KNBC, KABC and ABC News in the early 1970’s when women weren’t welcome. Despite staggering odds and the opposition of multitudes of male union members who didn’t want women on board, two years after she began her journey, Marta was a card-carrying member of the I.A.T.S.E., Local 695, and one of the first female members. This is one of the milestones of which she is most proud, because it opened doors for all women and changed the way her daughters viewed their opportunities as they grew up.
The transition into writing and producing the news was no less difficult, but, again, defying conventional stereotypes, Marta set her sights on moving from the technical to the editorial side of news in 1982. In December of 1984 Marta went to work at KTLA News, which became her home away from home for nearly 25 years. Marta was fortunate to have the late, legendary L.A. anchor, Hal Fishman as her mentor at KTLA.
Marta’s love of journalism and TV News flourished at KTLA, where she wrote the news, produced newscasts, moved on to reporting and anchoring. She launched the midday news during the O.J. Simpson Murder Trial, which she anchored gavel-to-gavel to outstanding ratings.
Marta specialized in health reporting at KTLA until she left in 2008, bringing to light many issues affecting the health of the public. Today, she carries on that tradition at K.I.S.S. Media taking the message of her clients directly to the public via social media.
